Last week Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) representatives were in Logan County to assess the damage done by the December snow storm and the January ice storm. The area affected most was the southeast part of the county. Damage was estimated to be $486,950.00, and the FEMA representative felt that was a low figure.
Although this amount of damage meets the threshold required by the county and the state has also met its threshold, this does not guarantee FEMA will declare the storms as a disaster and eligible for funding.
Commissioner Pearson has stated, “We are not going to wait for FEMA funding. We will continue using every means within our ability to make District 2 roads usable for our residents.”
