    When Commissioner Pearson came into office he instituted an aggressive program to evaluate the condition of roads and reclassify with Oklahoma Department of Transportation the more heavily traveled ones. By reclassifying the roads it makes it possible to qualify for more grants with which to improve them. A part of the process of reclassification was to take traffic counts.
